Today was a GREAT day! No puke. No diarrhea. No IV. No dehydration. No black lung. No chicken feet. And not even a diaper blow-out. Thanks for your prayers! Okay, so our standards for a "great day" have dropped slightly since the beginning of the trip. But hey, we're feeling groovy!
Today was perfect. We woke up (always a good way to start). Then we headed down to a very nice buffet breakfast with real orange juice and everything. We even had french toast that tasted like french toast. And for the first time I recognized more than three things in the buffet. And, this was the first morning I did not get sent down to the local Starbucks (yes - there is one in Guangzhou, too) for a "survival coffee" by the ladies. The b-fast coffee hit the spot evidently and put the ladies in great spirits right out of the gate. I have a feeling if we were stuck deep in the Congo for three weeks yet the ladies started each day with a cup of good coffee, they'd have smiles on their faces as they flicked spiders off their hammocks.
The only less than perfect part of my day was the time I got suckered into attending the paperwork appointment as my wife took a nap. Little did I know that by agreeing to go "merely finish up the last little bit of paperwork" would I experience the longest two hours of my life. Not only did it bring me back to college chemistry class where I actually had to pay attention, I had to state the names, birth dates, and address' of every known kin back to Noah. But, when I got back to the room and got a hug from Malea, I'd have given info clear back to Adam. In fact, I bet Eve asked Adam, "Hey honey, could you just quickly name the animals for me while I take a rest? Thanks dear!"
And, Malea got her official physical prior to coming to the states. That was quite a deal! Thirteen
babies, three doctors, and two hundred square feet. Good times. The physical pretty much consisted of pulse and pipes. If the baby was breathing they got great marks. Malea got great marks.
Now everyone but me is asleep. And, just one appointment tomorrow and three days to go. And trust me, when Abby asks me, "Hey dear, could you just go down and wrap up the last bit of details on Malea?" I think I'll say, "I would, babe, but I was just heading out to get fresh cups of coffee."

Thanks for the update, made me tear up and made me laugh out loud. I agree with Hogie, you should definately add writing to your resume. Yes and I agree anything is tolerable with a little coffee in the system. Praying for your last few days that they will be wonderful and cause all of you to reflect on our GREAT God. Have a great day!
You have been having a wild time! I hope the rest of your trip is smooth sailing. I've enjoyed your posts and your sense of humor. Julie (Mom to Nathan from Chongqing)
