I have been meaning to download some Christmas pictures of all the fun stuff we have been doing the past couple of weeks but it hasn't happened yet. We had a great quiet Christmas here at home as a family and just enjoyed going to see a couple movies, ice skating, a weekend at Leavenworth playing in the snow with friends, and of course eating all the yummy Christmas goodies.:)
God works in unexpected ways and on Christmas Eve day on the way to church, Kiersten fainted and was unconcious for about 10 seconds. We don't know what caused her to lose conciousness and her doctor doesn't think she had a seizure. Of course doctors always want to run tests when there isn't an answer, so she had an EKG yesterday which came back normal and she is seeing a cardiologist next week which may mean another test or two. She seems to be acting fine and is her normal chipper self. For me as a mom, this has been a test of my faith in God's sovereign control of my child's life because it is bringing back all those feelings that I experienced when she was younger and had many unanswerable problems with severe allergies which took us on a couple ambulance rides and hospitalizations. We never were able to get any solid answers as to what was happening and now we are left to trust that God is in control even though we may not get answers to this puzzle. I am so thankful that we have a Father we can talk to and who gently gives us reminders that He holds all of our lives in HIS hands. So, I just have had to release Kiersten once again and know that even without answers, God is still faithful. It has been a good lesson for me and applies to so many areas of life. It is not easy but I am glad that He doesn't leave us where we are but wants to stretch us to become more like Him. If we find out anything else, I will post it here.
As far as our adoption goes, if nothing else drastic changes in China, we should be seeing Malea's face by the first week of February! They have sent matches to all the people who had LIDs through 9-27 and our LID is 9-29 so we are getting excited!! It has been a long wait and we look so forward to meeting our new daughter/sister. Thanks for your prayers and I will post pictures soon!
Learning to trust more,
Abby
