Sick in Chonqing

Well friends,

Our blog motto mentions love, faith, and adventure. Well, today the faith part came in to play more than ever. I will not write much as I am sure Abby's perspective of a mother will be the best one to convey the day's events, but long story short, Kiersten came down with a terrible, terrible stomach bug this morning. During the course of the afternoon, she threw up over 20 times at 20 minute intervals. She became quite dehydrated so we grabbed our interpreter and took a taxi to the Chongqing children's hospital. I will not go into detail now, but the hospital tested our faith more than Kiersten's virus! Oh my the dirt! She also tested positive for a blood virus but we're not sure it was accurate. After an IV and some meds, she is doing much better and is sleeping soundly back in our hotel.

We did a lot of praying today and were comforted. But, it was an extremely difficult day for both of us - especially Abby. Thank the Lord for His protection. I won't go into detail now - we are tired out emotionally and physically. Hopefully Ab will be up to writing the story tomorrow. Until then, pray no one else gets sick and Kiersten continues to do well.

Thanks for your prayers.

In God's protection,
The Spears

I am so sorry to hear that your Daughter is sick. I will pray that she recovers completely. I love following your journey. We traveled in December to bring our Grace home. We are also with CCAI.

Hi Abby and all,
I have really enjoyed reading your blog. We're finally home after a trip to the East Coast. I am praying that Kiersten gets better quickly and that no one else gets sick. We look forward to seeing you when you return at Bible Study.

Praying for ALL. Especially Kiersten. It sounds exactly like food poisoning (I had it once, lots of throw up and every 20 minutes, it was terrible, I lost 8 pounds in one day, once it was out of my system though I was weak but fine). So I don't know whether to pray that she had food poising so that the rest of you definately won't get it or not. We will just PRAY. Love, MaryAnn
