Let the good times roll!

Hello friends, family, and lost cyberspace people who happened upon this site!

You know this internet thing is truly incredible. There is a lot about the internet I don't like and all-in-all I think things were better pre-internet (my wife says I was born 100 years late). And yet, there are some benefits to Al Gore's little invention - like this blogging thing for example. Without it, I would not be able to show the world the latest in pig-showing fashion statement like the one seen here. This is Kiersten, America's next 4H Top Model, shown in her Old Navy green tank top, Dollar Store shades, and purple Wal-Mart mud boots. Also note the black electrical tape pig stick and black and white hog accessories. You could find yourself sporting this latest fashion for not more than $10 (pig sold separately at the Missoula County Fair). Get it while you can because the model's mom says this will be the last year a Spear is seen next to a pig. I hear rabbits might be the hot item in 2009.

In addition to all the pig fun we've had this spring, we are enjoying the summer sunshine. But I have to say, it's getting a little toasty around here (95 degrees today). Despite the heat, we've had a good time learning the area. We hiked the "M" on Mt. Sentinel. The kids did great on the climb and made it to the top. In fact, Malea did not even break a sweat.

And, there's no better way to cool off than flying down a slip-n-slide!

But the most fun so far this summer and the parts we most appreciate has been time with friends. We feel blessed to have spent time with some of our old pals from Dupont. Just recently the Mazakawski's (Maz-a-cow-skis) came for a few days and we had a blast. It's great having people come since it makes us go and explore the state. We went swimming at Sealy lake one day then headed to Philipsburg and a Mountain Gem Mine the next. At the gem mine (the mine consisted of buckets with gravel in them but it was still cool) the kids dug for sapphires. And, they found some and a few that were cutable. Jeff, Gretchen, and kids it was a blast having you and thanks so much for coming!! Gretchen, Mattie will forever know you as the lady who can roast a perfect marshmallow.

Then it was Miller time! Mark and Gwen Miller came by with their crew and we're so glad they did. It was great catching up on everything. We're blessed to have had them as friends in Dupont and our friendship got all the closer after a day of slip-n-slide and tacos. We're already looking forward to next year when you come cruising by again. Go ahead and program us into your GPS. Oh ya, the GPS isn't able to find out house. Oh well, you remember the way! We only wish you could have stayed longer! Trivia: where are the two other Miller boys in the picture? Answer: breaking the longest slip-n-slide record!

Then Rebbecca and Jaden Downs came down from Polson. Rebbecca was in nearby Polson visiting family and spent the time to come see us. Rebbecca, thanks for coming!! It was great to see you. Jaden looks like a natural in front of those pigs. I think you have plenty of room at your place to enjoy a little pig project!
That's about it for now, gang. You never know what the Spear family will find ourselves doing but you can be sure to find it on our blog. We'll keep you posted.
