Good News from Elani's Orphanage

We just joined a yahoo group of a bunch of folks that have been to Elani's orphanage in the past to give some little girls their forever homes. I have learned through the group that the place she is living right now is actually a good orphanage (as far as orphanages go!) Several of the families have been able to visit when they went to China and really were impressed with the care and love shown to the children who live there. The pictures that I have seen of the rooms look like they have many toys in them and are kept very clean. Apparently the little girls that have come from there are for the most part developmentally on track and it is apparent they have been cared for.
This is so good for us to hear as we of course have been praying for Elani and have really no idea of what kind of situation she is in right now. It is comforting to know that she is being taken care of until we can get there and give her a family.
In light of this news, my heart is heavy for the dire situation in Haiti and especially for all the children there who have no one to protect them. Just today I saw on the news a story of an orphanage there that was destroyed and there are many orphans under the age of 3 who literally have no food or shelter and no one to even protect them from people roaming the streets. I hope and pray that all of us who know the Lord will respond in whatever way He leads. I know adoption is not something that the Lord lays on everyone's heart but I know He does ask us to take care of the orphans and the widows. So I pray for those people in Haiti tonight and that the Lord will work through us His hands and feet to show mercy to those who need it so desperately.
