The Pigs are here - should I be scared??

Today was pig day at our house. The girls got to pick out their baby pigs from a local farmer that they are going to raise to show at the fair. Here they are with our neighbor Rilee who is raising pigs also with her big brothers. The baby pigs are pretty cute, I must admit. In a couple of months, not so much..... We had pigs 2 years ago and just a word of advice to anyone out there who is thinking of raising pigs: If they become ill, don't take a rectal temp right after you have wormed them.... the vet told me I had to take a temp on our 200# pig and then she proceeded to ....(just use your imagination). If we have another sick pig this summer, that will be Marc's job.
This is Mama pig...Had to take this pic because it was so funny, she kept standing on her hind legs and looking over the pen to keep an eye on her babies that we were taking. She is HUGE!!

Kiersten with her pick......Lucille Ball.

Maddie with her pick..... no name as of yet.
Another post coming soon of us getting them home. Great experience for the girls, highly recommend 4H for many reasons: responsibility, hard work, money management, training and caring for an animal to name a few. If I had my way we would have cute little clean bunnies or something but what are ya gonna do when they want pigs? Hope August comes quickly (our neighbors probably feel the same way).

I accidently left a comment while still signed in under Eric's church security acct. So that is why there is a deleted comment.

What I meant to say was, cute pigs! Kiersten, I love the name you picked! Can't wait to hear what you pick Maddie!
